Green Grass Jelly Powder

I really love eating fresh green grass jelly. The jelly made from jelly vines also called cyclea barbata have a fresh leafy taste and some stated help with lowering high blood pressure too. Since living in the US, this plant is not easily available.  Thanks to my friend for sharing a plant with me a few years ago. I plant the vines in pots and need to bring them indoor every winter. And of course I can only eat when I get enough leaves.🀣

So trying to find alternative way, I thought there might be a powder form where I can make anytime of the year. Which I did find one. I was super excited but of course ended disappointed because taste and texture not same as the fresh leaves. The texture and taste is exactly like the canned version green grass jelly. Totally different than my vines. Guess I'll need to take better care of my vines so I can get more leaves out of them.😁

Strain at least twice since powder so small

Home grown jelly vines. Best grow on semi shade area
Color and taste of fresh jelly is so refreshing. Love the chewy texture too.πŸ˜‹

Grilled Fishes for Spring Rolls

Tonight dinner was quite delicious! Grilled striped bass and catfish for spring rolls. I'm trying to be on a diet...but eating too much isn't helping...haha.🀣

Dessert is home grown grass jelly.  So cooling for this hot weather and spicy fish sauce.πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

Durian Swissroll and Chocolate Chip Cookies

Having relatives over so decided to make some desserts for the kids. Baked durian swissroll and chocolate chips/macadamia cookies.

 Swissroll using Suka Amel hurricane recipe, except I whisk merginue to firm peak. Filling with durian and whipped cream. Roll, wrap and refrigerate over night for easier cutting.
Cookies recipe from biggerbolderbaking. Dough made nigh before. Take out leave room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hr. Divide into 2 batch. One add in semisweet chocolate and the other add in white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts. Baked middle rack for 11 minutes.

Sichuan Double Cooked Fish

Trying out a new dish today since hubby went fishing and caught a striped bass. Didn't want to grill again so trying out double cooked method similar to double cooked pork belly. Saved some non spicy for kids while we eat the spicy one. So very yummy with rice!πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

 Fry until golden crispy
 Cornstarch fish

Durian Birthday Cake for Mom

Baked a durian birthday cake for mom. She says she loves it more than bakery since not too sweet and cake is soft too. The sponge cake is dry bake which only took 20 mins. It really help when I didn't have a lot of time. Baked and decorated within 4 hrs since mom coming to cut her cake. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹
