My Crazy Orchids Garden

Here are some of my orchids in bloom. Other than crazy for tropical fruit trees I also love orchids. And as you can see I have too many of them..lol :) It's a pain to water all of them at once. But the blooms are worth it. Enjoy!!!

All orchids are indoor. Too cold outside. I might leave them outside in the summer..but got to be shaded or they'll be burn to death...lol

Wow! They are beautiful!
I had a pot of orchid once but I gave up grow them. They need extra care. Too much water cannot, too hot cannot. Too dainty for me to handle. haha! You are really good! :)

Thanks. I usually don't need to do much with them except water once a or twice a week when they're dry.

Hey ch3rri, do you mind if I ask you a question? I recently got a gorgeous orchid plant for my birthday and I love it, but I'm afraid it's going to die on me because I have no experience with tending to flowers. Do you have any advice/tips on how to take care of these flowers? Is it one of those flowers that will re-bloom on its own every year? Will it be ok if I replant it in a bigger pot? How much should I water every day? Thanks in advance for your help. Btw, I really love looking at the pictures of all your plants! *so jealous* If only I lived somewhere warm so I can plant them too..

Hi Yen,

What kind of pot did you received it in? If it's a nice one then might just repot next year instead. You usually don't need to repot unless the orchid outgrown it's pot...meaning all the roots coming out of it and no more room for it to grow. If your going to repot it, just get some orchid potting mix and try to find an orchid pot..just like mine, with lots of holes on the side for it to breath. I got them at Lowes. Or just a pot with hole on the bottom to let the water drain. Very important to let the water drain, if not it will cause rotting on the root and kill the plant. Only water when the top 1 inch layer seem to be dry. So just once or twice a week is more than enough. Let it drain completely each time. Also, try to keep the leaves dry from all the watering since water staying on the leaves can cause rotting on leaves too.

Usually when I repot, I just cut away dead roots and change the potting mix and place the plant back to the nice pot.:)

This flower will bloom every year. I usually feed some orchid fertilizer to it. But since you only have one pot of orchid, you might not want to waste all that money since over fertilizing will cause damage to the plant.

I have to say planting them could be expensive since their potting mix and fertilizer is not cheap. But the flowers are really nice and worth it. :) These are house plant so keep it at a windowsill with indirect sunlight. Direct sun could burn their leaves depending on what type of orchid.

I live in PA and we have snow here so I can only grow all tropical fruit trees in pot and bring them in during winter. Not really a lot of work if you only have one or two trees. :)

Let me know if you have anymore questions.
